Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

The CBNAAT test stands for Cartridge-Based Nucleic Acid Amplification Test, and it is a molecular diagnostic method used to detect the presence of COVID-19.

In general, the CBNAAT test takes about 90 minutes from start to finish.

The most common and reliable method is the RT-PCR test, which detects the genetic material of the virus in a person's sample. This test involves collecting swabs from the nose and throat of a patient, which are then sent to a laboratory for analysis.

The incubation period for COVID-19 refers to the time between exposure to the virus and the onset of symptoms. This period can last from 1-14 days, with an average of around 5-6 days.

Most people infected with COVID-19 will continue to test positive in PCR tests for up to three months after their initial onset of symptoms. However, this does not necessarily mean that they are still infectious or able to transmit the virus.

In general, patients should wait at least ten days after the onset of their symptoms before considering getting tested again. This waiting period allows time for the body to clear out any remaining viral particles that may trigger a false positive result.

Rapid NAAT tests offer quick results but may not be as sensitive as PCR tests. On the other hand, PCR tests are more accurate but can take longer to produce results.
