Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Creatinine is a waste product that is produced by the muscles and filtered out of the blood by the kidneys. The creatinine level in the blood is a measure of how well the kidneys are working.

A creatinine test can be used to detect kidney damage or dysfunction. The test may also be used to monitor kidney function in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD) or those who are at risk for CKD.

If your creatinine levels are high, it could be a sign of renal failure or damage. Other signs of high creatinine levels include:

-Shortness of breath

-Swelling in the feet, ankles, legs, or abdomen

-Nausea and vomiting

-Muscle cramps or weakness

-Changes in urine output or appearance

Make sure you are drinking enough water. You should aim for eight glasses of water a day. Another is to avoid foods like organ meats, anchovies, herring, and beer. Additionally, you ought to consume fewer proteins. Finally, exercise regularly.

Generally speaking, a creatinine level of 2.0 mg/dL or higher is considered an indicator of kidney failure.

There are many causes of high creatinine levels, but the most common cause is kidney damage or disease. Other causes of high creatinine include dehydration, strenuous exercise, and certain medications.

  • A rise in blood creatinine levels.
  • A decrease in urine output.
  • Swelling of the legs and feet.
