CCP antibodies attack healthy tissues in the joints. The anti-CCP test needs a blood sample to detect the presence of citrulline antibodies. If these antibodies are found in the blood, it indicates that the person has rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation, pain, and stiffness in the joints.
