Description
An erythrocyte sedimentation rate, commonly known as ESR, is a blood test that determines if an individual has inflammation in their body. Inflammation is the immune system's response to injury, infection, and many conditions, including immune system disorders, certain cancers, and blood disorders.
The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) test in Madhavaram, Chennai measures how quickly red blood cells settle at the bottom of a tall, vertical tube filled with blood. As these proteins increase, they cause clumping of the RBCs together, which increases their settling rates. Therefore, it causes the levels of ESR to increase in the body, which usually means that the body is currently fighting a disease or infection. Sometimes the ESR and CBC test is prescribed together because it is not diagnostic for any specific illness.
